“Each” doesn’t cut it anymore…

This is the first I’ve sat down at the computer for more than ten minutes since last Wednesday.  Obviously, Bob has not written a scene each day.  I’m going have to ease back on my commitment and shoot for “almost every” instead.  Each day just wasn’t realistic for my schedule and I should have realized that.  I am going to continue writing scenes as often as possible (and yes, sometimes still each day) and you can hold me to that.  It’s just that naming the blog with “Each” implied more commitment than I was able to keep. Sorry.

Who knows, during NaNoWriMo, I may have to change the “is” to “was” for a little while…

Vacation

No, this isn’t a scene called “Vacation”, I’m taking my family up to New Hampshire for a few days. It’s a secluded cabin in the woods with no internet or modern gadgetry, so I’ll be sure to take my notepad. I imagine I’ll come up with a few ideas up there. So for the next few days (probably until next Wednesday) this will be the only post you see. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, take a look at what I’ve written so far from the beginning. You can navigate forward from there using the arrowed links at the top of each post. Thanks for taking the time to read these, by the way. Enjoy, leave a comment if you like, and I’ll be back next Wednesday.

umm…

Ok, I have a couple scenes written, just not transcribed onto the computer yet.  It’s 3:40 am and have to go to work now.  I was going to try to post this morning, but time ran out. I’ll make 2 posts later today to make up for the gap.

Another kind of horror…

I didn’t post today, and I won’t be able to for at least 2 more days.  I’m working on a real horror story….We’re remodeling our bathroom.  Actually I’ve been working on it all week, but it’s crunch time and I have to finish up before company comes.  I won’t have time to write much.  I’ll use the time to think up some more ideas and just jot them down when I can.  To keep honest to my pledge, I may try to make a couple double posts to make up for it.  I just don’t know what I’m going to write yet….ahh, the pressure.  It’s exhilarating!

Welcome

I’ve decided to start this blog as a way to get my creative juices going. What I call scenes could be anything from bits of dialog to descriptive passages. The one thing these will all have in common is that they are just glimpses into unwritten stories.

I don’t know at this point how this will end up. I may have some scenes that are related, like arcs I guess. We’ll see. One thing I can pledge however, is that I won’t just take snippets out from stories I’ve already written. I want this to be fresh. I will stumble and skin my knees once in a while, but hopefully as time goes on, the quality of what I put out will improve. That is the idea here, after all.

One last caveat: I have a day job, of course. I’m also married with kids. My job has me up at insane hours and 4 nights a week I’m required to go to bed before my kids. I will try my hardest to post a new scene each day (kinda like my title says) but because of my hours or as RL takes over, you may see 2 posts in one day or go 2 days without a post.

Ok, ’nuff said. I’ve gotten most of my excuses out of the way. My first scene will be posted shortly. You’ll notice as I go along, that I tend to write some of the more darker themes. That’s the stuff I was raised on, mainly. I also like me some Sci Fi, Fantasy, and Young Adult. Once in a while I’ll be inspired to put down some of the “Lifetime Channel” flavored stuff. Not without being tempted to have demons, aliens, or psycho killers jump into the story though.

Bob is doing what?

In an effort to discipline myself and grow as a writer, I am going write a different scene as often as possible and post them here (it used to be each day). These will vary in size, genre and most likely, quality. They will serve as both an exercise and as potential seeds for unwritten stories. Feel free to comment on what you see and if you want to take one of these "seeds" and go with it, great! Let me know how it turns out.
